News from Deanna Clucas

Deanna continued teaching Truly Beginning Watercolor classes through July. Classes begin again in September at Brecksville Center for the Arts. Intermediate classes will also begin at Richfield Recreation Center in September following her trip to France for a painting workshop with Fred Graff.

Her one-woman show at Akron Woman’s City Club’s Gallery 732 which ended August 30 was a huge success.

She participated in the first fundraiser for the GriefCare Place of Stow at the Portage Country Club. The event was an art auction and sale to benefit the organization which offers care and grief support services.

Her list of art shows includes the WITAN French Market, Medina’s Art in the Park, Akron Arts Expo, Hudson Art on the Green, and Ohio Mart. And then there were also CVAC Members All Media Show, the annual Plein Air Painting Competition as well as River Days Plein Air Painting in Munroe Falls where she met the mayor while painting at Brust Park.

She also showed in Ohio Watercolor Society Regional Show at CVAC.

Just got word that her painting “Reflections” will be at the Millworks Gallery for the Akron Art Prize Competition sponsored by the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation and the Downtown Akron Partnership. Big prize money for the winners will be determined by texts submitted by the public.

Although it has been a busy year, she is looking forward to her presidential duties for both the Women’s Art League and the Medina County Art League.

News from Nina Robishaw

I am presenting my watercolor paintings in The Hudson Art on the Green show and The Kent Art in the Park show this year. I teach watercolor painting once a week to the ladies at The Rockynol Retirement Community, and I am an adjunct professor for Kent State University Art Dept where I supervise student art teachers during their elementary and secondary internship assignments. I attended the workshops of Jan Mettee at HSA, Cathy Welner at Cliffside Museum in Hinckley this year, and I have reserved a spot at Cliffside for Alvaro Castagnet's workshop next year. Aside from regularly painting at home, that's about it!

News from Judy Carducci

In October I will teach a plein air workshop for the 8th time in southern France - during the grape harvest. There is still room in the workshop, and this may be my last workshop there, so anybody who wants to take advantage of a Carducci workshop in a beautiful part of France, and see the original cave paintings nearby: this is your chance! http://www.hautbaran.com/

Some of us are going from France to Barcelona to paint for a few days before coming home.

In November and also February I'll be teaching a plein air workshop in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.

NOTE: in the current Workshop issue of American Artist magazine there is a 6-page article, "Plein Air Paradise," about my workshop in Old San Juan last December.
