The National Collage Society, based in Hudson, Ohio, was founded in 1981 with the goal of advancing the stature of collage as a major art medium by providing opportunities for exhibition, workshops, lectures, and publications. Collage has evolved from one piece of paper glued onto a painting into many types of mixed media. Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso were two major artists to first use glued layers in their paintings. The annual juried exhibition, which is international in scope, features an extraordinary range of compositions, accompanied by a full color, illustrated catalogue. This annual exhibition has been hosted at institutions in Ohio, Washington, and New England we are pleased to broaden exposure for this genre by presenting this installation where it is accessible to audiences in the Northeast.
