An Artists Christmas

From the Art Festival Newseltter and Marc Duke

Twas the Night Before Opening
'Twas the night before opening and all through the site,
White tents were all silent, zipped closed for the night.
Artwork was hung on panels with care,in hopes that customers soon would be there.
The artists were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sales danced in their heads.
The booth fees were paid, the spaces assigned,
Vans parked in far lots, presentations refined.

...When out in the aisle there arose such a clatter,
The committee awoke up to see what was the matter.
The director arrived, in thought very deep,
Awakened so rudely from a brief pre-show sleep

Then out in the food court there appeared an art vision,
A juror, it seemed, unable to make a decision.
For what had appeared but a new application,
After the deadline! Oh, what a sensation!

More rapid than be-backs rushed in did the juror,
His red coat tousled, his mind in a furor.
And from his small sleigh, he whistled and shouted,
A listing of mediums, all full now, he touted.

"On Painter! On Sculptor! On Weaver and Jeweler!
On Potter! On Carver! On, too, you Photographer!
