2014 Art On The Green

Don’t miss one of the greatest finishes to summer: The Hudson Society of Artists’ Annual Art On The Green Arts and Crafts Show! This annual event has become a legend in its own time, now enjoying its 34th year.

You’re sure to find treasures for yourself and for gifting.

Show dates and hours:
Saturday, August 23, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday, August 24, 11 a.m - 5 p.m.

Well-known art instructor Cathy Welner, founder of Art On The Green (AOG), is a past president and current member of Hudson Society of Artists (HSA), a signature member of the Ohio Watercolor Society, and a lifetime member of Whiskey Painters of America. Paul Adams, also a local art instructor, HSA and Cuyahoga Valley Art Center member, and recipient of many awards, co-chairs this event with Ms. Welner. Their aim is to present a quality show which features “always original” works of art. Each year, applicants’ works are juried to maintain freshness and professional quality.

Art On The Green is a free rain-or-shine event held on the hilly, tree-shaded South Green in the charming Western Reserve town of Hudson. Located at the corners of Routes 303 and 91, visitors will find free parking throughout town. Not only will art lovers discover paintings in varied media, but also collections of jewelry, pottery, woodcarving, glass, weaving, enamel, sculpture, leather, photography, garden decor, and more. The midway will be flanked by more than 150 artists--most from Ohio and surrounding states, but some as far away as Florida. All artwork and crafts are available for purchase.

While meandering the green, showgoers can refresh with a variety of menu selections from seven different vendors in the upper-level food court, including Hershey’s ice-cream and Hansen’s Original Kettlekorn, plus Rotary’s and Masonic Lodge’s pulled-pork, hamburger, and hot-dog sandwiches. All AOG food sponsors contribute to Hudson’s civic pride by donating a percentage of their profits to support the Ohio Watercolor Society, Hudson High School art scholarships, July 4th fireworks and other Hudson Community activities. The Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation and Day-Ketterer Attorneys also contribute to the success of this event.

This year’s Juror of Awards will be Lawrence J. Churski whose professional art studies began in l963 when he received a full scholarship to Cleveland’s Cooper School of Art and whose education was furthered at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Mr. Churski later joined Artists Incorporated--an Akron, Ohio-based graphic design studio where he eventually became owner and president.
