Hilary Sheeter

News from Hilary Sheeter:
  • Congrats are in order to Maggie MacGrainor and Harriet Elson for their paintings "In the Beginning" and "Life on a Gossamer String" being accepted into the prestigious Ohio Watercolor Society 2006 juried show. The show opening will be September 23 at Firelands Association for Visual Arts at Oberlin College. Way to go, Maggie! Way to go, Harriet! Your talents are overwhelming.
  • Sue Birgeles and Hilary Sheeter are taking the OWS workshop by show juror Steve Quiller at Oberlin College, August 14-16. Hilary will likely try to find out why his painting was rejected!
  • In May, Bev and Hilary drove to Arizona for 3 weeks. Along the way they stopped in Oklahoma City to visit the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The highlight of the entire trip was seeing Lowell Smith's Prix-de-West winning painting (circa 1990) along with other magnificent paintings. This museum is a must-stop-and-see for anyone traveling that way.
  • Paintings by Maggie MacGrainor, John Bender, and Hilary were featured in the St. Paul's Church on W. Market St. in Akron during May and June. Hilary won the Best of show ribbon. Congratulations, Hilary!
  • In November, Hilary will teach art classes on the Princess cruise ship Regency out of San Juan, Puerto Rico to Acapulco. Let's hope nothing goes awry with the steering system as happened recently on another Princess cruise ship.
  • Concerning Art on the Green, Cathy Welner and Hilary wish to thank everybody who helped with the mailings to the 145 exhibitors. As the show dates approach, there is much work to be done. We anticipate a better-but-no-bigger-than-ever show on August 26 and 27.
