Weekend Art Events

Full calendar this weekend!

Peninsula Art Academy will keep the gallery open from 11am - 11pm on Saturday, August 14, 2010 for Peninsula Home Day. The Plein Aire Show and Sale is open for this one last evening only. Fabulous paintings of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park are still available at very affordable prices!

Home Day is an Old-fashioned street fair with live music,

food vendors, dunking tanks for politicians, Policemen grilling sausages and Firemen selling beer. 5k run, 8am, and carnival, noon – 3pm both at the school. We’ll close Mill Street at 6pm for live music and dancing in the street!

Two new shows open in the BOX gallery with an opening reception Friday, August 13, 5 – 7 p.m.:

Fire & Ice, Karen Pierson and Terry Klausman, art jewelry and acrylic mixed media wall hangings

My Spirit Rises featuring art by Jean Evans, John Herring, Ted Maringer, Carole Pollard, Judith Salamon and Bob Yost (Ted, Carole, Judith and Bob are AoRC members; Carole assembled/proposed this talented group) Opening reception Friday, August 13, 5 – 7 p.m.

Further south on Friday evening: Cari Miller presents Summertime, painting, photos, etc., at Massillon Museum’s Studio M. Opening reception Friday, August 13, 6 – 8 p.m. at the Massillon Museum, 121 Lincoln Way East, Massillon, Ohio.

Saturday workshop: Simple Beginnings, A Basic Approach to Pattern with Carole Pollard, Saturday, August 14, 1 – 3 p.m. Free workshop – registration is appreciated, contact psargent@neo.rr.com, but if you forget, just drop in!

Also on Saturday, August 14: University Park Art & Music Fair at Grace Park, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Stop in to see work by AoRC members, Gwen Waight, Bob Yost and Joan Colbert (Grace Park is just a few blocks away from Summit Artspace; visit www.universityparkartfair.org for map/directions)

Katina Radwanski presents Stems at Studio 2091 – Mothersbaugh-Roos, 2019 Front Street in Cuyahoga Falls. Opening Reception, Saturday, August 14, 5 – 7:30 p.m.

Rob Lehr announces his Lovely Lowbrow Toy Show at Square Records, 824 West Market Street, Akron (Highland Square). Opening reception Saturday, August 14, 5 – 9 p.m. Over thirty artists created their own Custom Vinyl Toy using the iconic KidRobot
